Getting Traffic to your website!
Welcome back for the 5th issue of the ‘ONE YEAR MILLIONAIRE‘ , what I’m going to expand on in this issue is one of the most important things when dealing with business and making money online. If you have a great product and a beautiful website that converts like crazy, does it really make a difference if no one sees your website? There are a couple ways you can get high traffic to your website, I’m going to be explaining briefly the pros and cons of each, of course I am also going to be giving my opinion about which is best depending on which situation. Lets take a look at our options: 1. Submitting your website to search engines. This is probably the most common practice when it comes to webmasters after they complete their website. The first thing that pops up into their head is that they will submit it to the search engines so that users can find their website based on keywords. One of the main problems with this is that many webmasters have no clue how to optimize their pages so that their page will show up on the first page of search results. Another downfall is that this process could take time, and we all know by now that TIME = MONEY! I am going to do a full issue later on about how to optimize your site for the most profitable results! Stay tuned for that one. 2. Link Exchange programs. Link exchange programs are simple. They offer hits in return for hits. The way it works is usually you surf other people’s websites to earn credits that you can use to accumulate hits of your own. One of the cons with this is that the hits you are getting are totally un-targetted and most people are usually just viewing your page to earn their points. I did use some of these programs are by fluke or luck made some money off of it, but long-term results showed that I needed to target my traffic. I was also able to use this to bring my page hits up high enough when I was starting out so that I could be accepted in an advertising program (one of the best ways to make money online without much effort) , because it will become obvious that they are getting really strict about the king of websites that can publish their ads. 3. Viral Marketing systems. Viral marketing is something that could generate millions of hits. The theory is that if you spread your website to 10 people, and those 10 people spread it to 10 people and so on, you can reach extremely high traffic. It is called viral marketing for a reason, because once it starts it just keeps going around like a virus. The main downfall with this genius idea is that you will have to be able to refer 10-20 people to begin with otherwise you are looking at very small numbers. If you can promote it to a good amount of people directly, then this technique would be a pretty solid to bring general traffic to your website! 4. Buying traffic. Buying traffic is expensive, if you have the money to spend to do it, or if you think you can turn a profit from it then I say go for it. Buying traffic can be tricky, because a lot of the websites offering these services are scams and send machine-based hits to your website instead of real uniques. There are a couple good ones online that are 100% real and I will go further into detail on that subject in another issue. 5. Pay-Per-Click ads. Posting an ad on Google or other P.P.C ad space is a great ( and probably the best) way to increase traffic to your website that is 100% targeted. The reason behind this is that it is relatively inexpensive and whoever clicks on your ad is generally clicking on it because they are interested or you have caught their attention. Also you are only paying for clicks, so your are getting your ad viewed by many while you are only paying for those who are interested enough to click and find out more information about what you have to offer. These are the most common ways to build great amounts of unique traffic to your website. I am going to go further into detail with a few things in specific in later issues (such as optimizing your pages for best search results and also listing various programs that offer good traffic related services).

I'm always sceptical of link exchange programmes - they seem to me to be unreasonably weighted in terms of my time for hits. Besides, I don't just want hits.... I want *targeted* hits! :) S
CONTRIBUTOR'S REPLY
yes of course... but it could be good for those who just want unique hits to their sites to either boost rankings... or so they could apply for certain websites that require a minimum # of hits per month to publish ads...
